Santa Monica sales mission returns down under

Four hoteliers join SMTT on two city roadshow

Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) and key hotel partners returned to Australia for their annual trade, trade media and media sales mission from 14-18 October, 2019. The team visited Brisbane and Sydney for a series of appointments and events, highlighting the latest developments of LA’s beach city.

This year SMTT had the pleasure of four hotel partners joining the mission alongside Todd Mitsuhata, Trade Manager of Asia Pacific and Latin America from Santa Monica Travel & Tourism. Partners included Dustin Hess, Director of Sales & Revenue Management at Hotel Shangri-La; Lindsay Parrott, Senior Sales Manager of Shore Hotel; Angela Lockyer, Area Director of Sales & Marketing of Proper Hotel; and Jonathan Mendoza, Director of Sales and Revenue at Huntley Santa Monica Beach.

One of the big highlights of the trip was the Sydney sales mission trade and trade media lunch event which took place at The Gantry, Pier One Sydney Harbour on Friday 18 October, which saw Santa Monica visiting guest chef Chef Govind. of Top Chef and Iron Chef fame and Executive Chef of Santa Monica icon, The Lobster, partner with Gantry’s Head Chef Thom Gorringe, to prepare a selection of delicious scallops and prawns from the BBQ in front of the guests along the recently transformed Santa Monica Pier, highlighting the similarities between both beach cities.
