Tokyo on Aman’s horizon for first Janu city hotel

Janu Tokyo to open in 2023, alongside Aman Residences, Tokyo

Aman has revealed its Janu branded hotel in Tokyo will be developed alongside the group’s maiden residence-only property, Aman Residences, Tokyo.

The dual property project in Tokyo will be located in the Toranomon-Azabudai development that has been 30 years in the making. The project will become the city’s newest landmark in 2023.

Janu is a sister-brand of Aman. The new entity was first revealed by the ultra-luxury hospitality company two years ago, having signed three projects in Montenegro, Saudi Arabia (AlUla) and Tokyo.

Janu Tokyo had initially been earmarked to launch in 2022.

Aman describes Janu as a brand that “will bring a contemporary and playful spirit to the Toranomon-Azabudai development, while respecting the sense of place”.

Janu Tokyo will consist of 120 guest rooms and suites and will occupy a prime position facing the project’s central square within a building identified as the ‘B-2 District Tower’.

The hotel will occupy the first 13-storeys of the tower. It will be designed by Denniston under the leadership of Jean-Michel Gathy. The property will include the Janu Spa featuring extensive wellness facilities, as well as six dining restaurants, a cafe and bars.

The Aman Residences, Tokyo will claim the top 11 floors of the 64-level tower, one of three in the development. The urban residences will offer 91 exclusive homes, designed by Yabu Pushelberg, as well as lifestyle services and a residents-only Aman Spa.
