The pandemic may have made it impossible for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Anna Cole, Director of Communications and Julie Calder, Director of International Sales & Marketing; along with Kent Elliott, Director of Destination Global Sales, Jackson Chamber of Commerce from making their regular mission to Aussie shores since last year, however local long-time representative, Caroline Davidson, kept their seats warm, hosting an event in Sydney for wholesale partners and media yesterday [Thursday 13 May 2021],
Davidson provided an update on the destination, renowned as having the “best snow in the west”. It’s hard to argue when the resort town recorded its fifth successive year in 2020 of over 500-inches of annual snow fall, and is operational 11 months of the year.
Nestled within close proximity to both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park, Jackson Hole is well connected domestically, with five major airlines providing uplift to the destination, including American Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
Australia is an extremely important market to Jackson Hole, Davidson said. Up until recently, Australia was the resort’s number one international source for visitors – a position the destination will be keen to reinstate once overseas travel restrictions are lifted.
Such is Australia’s importance to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, there is a dedicated microsite on the jacksonhole.com website – https://www.jacksonhole.com/australia.html – providing relevant information such as ski packages available, and a first-timers guide.
Davidson said there are five key reasons that make Jackson Hole so appealing to visitors during winter; the variety of terrain; consistency of snowfall; Western character; authentic experiences; and “super guest service”.
Visitors can book a variety of on-snow lodging to provide instant access to skiing facilities, with options including the Four Seasons, Amangani, Hotel Jackson, The Wort, Spring Creek Ranch and Hotel Terra. Another high-end addition scheduled to open this month in Town Square is Marriott’s 100-room and suite Cloudveil, an Autograph Collection.
Additionally there are multiple houses and condos available to travellers, ranging from one- to five-bedrooms, which can be accessed via jhrl.com.
Aside from its excellent snow and ski operation, spanning downhill slopes, cross-country and snoeshoeing, Jackson Hole is also a summer wonderland with an array of tracks and trails for hiking and biking, as well as water sports on the lakes and fly-fishing in the streams.
A number of new Downhill Mountain Bike trails are set to open this summer, including runs with intriguing names such as Deer Jumps, Dirty Harry and Deepest Darkest.
