Ultimate Safaris debuts flagship camp in the Namibian desert

Onduli Ridge features just six suites with Sky Beds and 'climate conditioners'

Ultimate Safaris has opened its new flagship property, Onduli Ridge, located in Damaraland, Namibia.

Named after the resident giraffe of the area, Onduli Ridge is built at the base of two south facing granite outcrops which are connected by a ridge. The location allows for magnificent views of Namibia’s highest mountain, the Brandberg, to the south and the dispersed cathedral-like granite inselbergs of Damaraland to the north.

Onduli Ridge consist of just six suites, hidden amongst the granite boulders that encompass the camp. The temperate climate of central Damaraland allows for naturally ventilated suites, partial open-air bathrooms and largely open communal areas.

The camp is designed to maximise the views of this most extraordinary landscape and every space becomes a viewpoint whether from the bed, the desk or the bathroom. Louvered shutters can be opened completely, blurring the lines between the indoors and nature, or closed for complete privacy if required.

A king-size bed (twin beds also available) cooled by its own ‘climate conditioner’ (Evening Breeze) is also the perfect place for afternoon siestas. Then, the bed can be rolled out onto your private deck for a night under a billion stars.

The camp exudes character and meticulous attention to detail meeting all requirements, from large rooms to generous communal areas, rain showers, a large pool and plenty of places to relax and laze. Food to tantalise the palate after enjoying exceptional activities creates a combination of genuinely unforgettable stays with exceptional quality while blending effortlessly into the natural surroundings.

Synonymous with Ultimate Safaris, activities at Onduli Ridge are conducted by incredible guides, all whilst having the use of state-of-the-art Swarovski binocular.

Camp Onduli is located on a private concession in the Doro Nawas Conservancy in the heart of Damaraland, and 20 minutes away from the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Twyfelfontein. Camp Onduli is within striking distance of other geological attractions such as the Burnt Mountain, Organ Pipes and Doros Crater.

Named after the Doros Crater, Doro Nawas means ‘the place where rhinos roam’ in the Khoekhoegowab language, and the area is home desert-adapted black rhino, desert elephant, giraffe and general plains game and predators such as cheetah, leopard, lion, spotted and brown hyena.

Guest experiences include elephant tracking, mountain biking, nature drives and nature walks, along with desert-adapted rhino and giraffe activity education.
