Last-minute availability opens up aboard True North

Interstate border closures provide fresh opportunities for new intrastate bookings

Domestic Australian border closures due to COVID-19 outbreaks across the country has seen very rare last-minute availability become available with luxury Australian small-ship operator True North.

“Recent travel restrictions have prevented some guests from joining upcoming departures,” True North posted on social media last weekend.

Every scheduled sailing aboard TRUE NORTH (which has a capacity of just 36-passengers) throughout the month of August 2021 now has limited availability, including both 7- and 13-night itineraries along the Kimberley coast.

The freed-up capacity, due to interstate travel cancellations, is however available to residents residing or visitors already travelling within Western Australia or the Northern Territory.

“It is very common for guests travelling on the TRUE NORTH to have booked well in advance and consequently – they are very much looking forward to their adventure and normally, nothing gets in their way! However, border restrictions are proving to be an obstacle for some,” True North Brand Director, Peter Trembath told LATTE.

“It’s certainly not the end of the world – our guests are protected by True North Fresh which allows rescheduling without penalty and, instances requiring some to reschedule are a godsend for others!”

True North Fresh program is centred around four pillars; enhanced hygiene, amendment to general booking conditions, restated values and amended pricing & product. Full details here.

“Beyond August, it’s a bit of a mix – there is every chance that border restrictions may create more last-minute opportunities however, we have also recently extended our Australia Coast season which means we have some cabins that are not booked at all,” Trembath said.

“This means we may be able to offer opportunities to experience the Kimberley coast or, to visit the Rowley Shoals or, to cruise right over the top of Australia from Darwin to Cairns,” he added.

Trembath added that with the current travel situation changing on almost a daily basis, the best source of up- to-the-minute information on availability is True North’s reservation team, which can be reached online at experiences@truenorth.com.au.
