Starwood Capital Group, in partnership with SH Hotels & Resorts, has unveiled plans for a second Baccarat Hotel in Europe, slated to open in 2024.
Baccarat Hotel Florence will be cast in the 14th-century estate of Villa Camerata, itself located at the Italian city’s northern edge, nestled between the vibrant city centre and the charming hilltops of Fiesole. This unique location will allow guests to enjoy a holistic hospitality experience that combines the peaceful atmosphere of Tuscany and the historically rich city of Florence.
A brand renowned for its quarter-century history of crafting the finest crystal, Baccarat entered the hotel space in 2015 with the debut of Baccarat Hotel New York, a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts’ Legend collection.
Baccarat’s signature balance of artful luxury, French savoir-faire, and innovative imagination will create an extraordinary experience for both local Italians and international guests, ushering in a new standard of hospitality and service excellence in the region.
Poised to set a new standard for luxury in Tuscany, the estate will evoke a regal history of centuries past, balanced by crystal-faceted, contemporary interiors. The hotel, developed in partnership with Omnam Group, will include spacious suites, two food and beverage outlets, a garden café showcasing sustainably sourced fruit and vegetables, and an oculus lounge. Recreational elements include a serene wellness space and spa featuring an indoor pool, and an outdoor pool surrounded by a terrace and courtyard resplendent with on-site gardens.
Omnam Group acquired historic Villa Camerata in March 2020 with the vision to develop the former youth hostel into an urban luxury resort, while preserving the character of the building which dates back to 1427.
“As artisans of new global luxury, our culture is built upon the iconic Baccarat brand’s long heritage of uncompromising perfection,” said Barry Sternlicht, Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital Group. “This commitment to excellence will be woven into every element of the Baccarat Hotel Florence experience, making it a luminous new destination in one of Europe’s most vibrant and beautiful cities.”
Omnam Group aims to create a new contemporary destination that pays homage to its historical tradition and celebrates the natural beauty and artistic culture of Florence.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Baccarat brand, which is a natural fit in a city that has long been a global epicentre of arts and culture,” said David Zisser, Omnam’s Founder and CEO.
Baccarat Hotels & Resorts currently has projects under development in Doha, Brickell (Miami), Macau and Bordeaux.
According to the hotelier’s website, Baccarat Hotels “will move to establish itself as the global leader, redefining luxury hospitality with a strong focus on the premier international markets. These global markets will be selected based on a determination of the acute need and desire to fill the current void of the ultra-luxury hotel experience.”
Highlighted cities include Los Angeles, Sao Paolo, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bali, Maldives, Beijing, Shanghai and Sydney.
