Sydney-based agency Spencer Travel Leisure has launched a new division centred around health and wellbeing – a segment of the industry Managing Director Penny Spencer predicts will surge as domestic and international travel resumes.Spencer Travel Wellness has been established as a direct result of the pandemic, with Spencer telling LATTE wellness is a niche still waiting to be tapped locally.“I was looking to the future of the business and evaluating what are we going to need? What will clients want moving forward?” she said.“I felt that coming out of COVID people will still be wanting to travel but with a greater focus on getting back to nature. A digital detox. And the niche of wellness was an obvious choice.”Spencer Travel Wellness is focused on travel that promotes health and wellbeing and enriches the mind, body and spirit. Launch wellness partners include COMO and Six Senses properties in Fiji and Oman.

“We’re keen to work with different partners within the industry that have wellness product. It’s not just about a hotel that has a great spa,” Spencer said, adding that the Virtuoso member agency is actively in discussion with other partners in Australia, but more so abroad.“We’re talking with quite a few. Quite a few have come to us since announcing the division.”The Spencer Travel Wellness network of partners is likely to extend to specialists in destinations such as Los Cabos in Mexico and game reserves in Southern Africa, and more widely in Europe and the United States where there is an ever-growing diversity of product.“There is a lot more to come,” she told LATTE.
Spencer Travel Wellness is also working with LiveWell Experiences which operates wellness programs and specialises in different kinds of experiences such as forest-bathing and meditating in a natural-habitat.“It’s about people getting back to the natural elements and really detoxing.”At this stage, Spencer Travel Leisure travel advisors will be cross-trained to manage the new wellness products. “But who knows. Down the track we might have a whole new department,” she quipped.Potential partners can connect with Spencer Travel Wellness via email at leisure@spencertravel.com.au.Lead image: Six Senses Fiji – Yoga on the Deck
