On 16 June, Fiji’s National Airline, Fiji Airways, launched its new direct service to San Francisco. Operating twice a week on its flagship A330 aircraft, the new direct service from Nadi offers Australian holidaymakers and business travellers a new way to fly to the popular US city and surrounds.
With just one stopover at Nadi Airport to and from Australia, travellers now also have the option to extend their trip and stay-over for a few days in beautiful Fiji, either post or pre their US trip. With Fiji around four hours away from the Eastern seaboard, it is expected to prove popular for those that want to mix a business trip with leisure time.
As well as experiencing the famous friendly Fijian hospitality onboard the A330, passengers have the benefit of an all-inclusive service including check-in luggage allowance, in-flight entertainment, and an array of food and drink options onboard. Extra legroom seats and pre-paid excess baggage are also available for purchase.
In line with US vacation periods, the new service will be seasonal, operating from June to August and in December and January. Fiji Airways flies to Nadi twice daily from Sydney, daily from Brisbane, and from Melbourne five times a week. The direct service from Nadi to San Francisco operates on Thursdays and Sundays.
Ahead of the inaugural flight, Fiji Airways announced that famous Fijian-Australian, Jarryd Hayne, has been named as a global ambassador for the national airline.
