Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) added 49 hotels to its portfolio in the first half of 2025, with new openings already lined up for later this year including the Yarra Valley’s Levantine Hill, as flagged by LATTE back in November 2024.Although originally touted for June, the new all-suite Victorian hotel is now scheduled to open in December 2025 when it will complement the winery’s existing cellar door, fine-dining restaurant and events centre.The SLH expansion builds on a record-breaking 2024, when SLH welcomed 82 new hotels into its collection. “2024 was a record year for SLH, and 2025 is shaping up to surpass it,” SLH Chief Operating Officer Richard Hyde said.“As the demand for genuine and intimate luxury stays continues to soar, we are in the right place at the right time. Our expanding and diverse portfolio of independent properties ensures there’s something for every discerning, independently minded traveller.”
The new signings take SLH’s collection to more than 620 boutique hotels across more than 90 countries.This year’s additions span a range of destinations including Japan, Mexico, India and Germany, with several brand-new openings. Among the 2025 launches is La Valise Mazunte in Mexico, opened in February. In July, Florence welcomed The James Suite Hotel Firenze 1564, a Renaissance palazzo.December promises a wave of openings in addition to Levantine Hill, including: the Maya Hotel Courchevel 1850, a refined ski retreat with “subtle Japanese influence” by designer Sylvestre Murigneux; and ONE | GT Grand Cayman, home to the island’s first rooftop infinity pool.SLH is also expanding into new destinations. The Wilmina Hotel marks its debut in Berlin with a former courthouse-turned-hotel. In Bulgaria, Boutique Hotel by BlackSeaRama offers “world-class” golfing amenities,” and Younch Hotel in Xi’an, China, is a serene 16-room retreat at the eastern gateway to the Silk Road.
