Austrian Airlines is bolstering its Premium Economy capacity on its long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft, revealing it will increase seat-count in the cabin by two-thirds in 2023.The national carrier and Star Alliance member airline introduced Premium Economy in 2018 and has since become increasingly popular with leisure and business travellers.Michael Trestl, Chief Commercial Officer at Austrian Airlines said: “By modifying our long-haul fleet, we are meeting the growing demand for more travel comfort. We look forward to welcome even more guests in our Premium Economy Class.”
Austrian Airlines will expand its Premium Economy Class on all six B777 aircraft from the current 24 seats to 40 seats per aircraft. In addition to the comfort seat made exclusively for the Lufthansa Group, Premium Economy passengers benefit from checking in two pieces of luggage, each weighing up to 23 kilograms, free of charge, plus they enjoy an onboard multicourse menu created by Do&Co.In addition to the enlarged Premium Economy Class, the seat capacity of Austrian Airlines’ B777 fleet will be increased by 14 Economy Class seats per aircraft. This will add 144 seats to the total capacity of Austrian Airlines’ long-haul fleet.The modification of the Boeing aircraft will start in early 2023. By May 2023, all Austrian Airlines’ Boeing 777s will take off with the new seating configuration.
